About

While Season 6 has come to a close, we are still hard at work in the background, getting ready for the launch of Season 7 on the 28th of September with a lovely teaser trailer to get you all excited. In the meantime, we thought we would bring back this episode we did with The Zulu Skywalker, aka, Muzi.   A lot has happened since we first released this episode and while at the time we caught at the start of the release buildup for his new album "Interblaktic", this Zulu Jedi has gone on to drop singles featuring the likes of Sho Madjozi and Kaytranada, and has firmly entrenched this cultural polymath as one of South Africa's freshest exports.    So sit back, get yourself a beverage and get deep inside the mind of Muzi to prepare yourself for the drop of his new album on the 1st of October.    With his heritage and family at the root of every creative move that he makes, he expertly blends together cutting edge urban and electronic music with local genres like Maskandi, Kwaito, and Bubblegum Pop of the 80s and 90s, to craft a sound that is entirely his own.   Through embracing his early "weirdness" and turning it into an asset, despite common perceptions in rural Empangeni, Muzi is a philosophical shaman that draws inspiration from the past to cultivate an African-charged, sonic future.  OUTRO TRACK: Interblaktik Apple Music Spotify YouTube   Set List:    Boom Shaka - Apple Music Spotify YouTube Switch Up - Apple Music Spotify YouTube Hallo - Apple Music Spotify YouTube Zulu Skywalker - Apple Music Spotify YouTube Zenzile-  - Apple Music Spotify YouTube Sunset Kwazulu - Apple Music Spotify YouTube Mama Dance - Apple Music Spotify YouTube Sunshine - Apple Music Spotify YouTube Bantu Space Odyssey - Apple Music Spotify YouTube   Massive shout out to Muzi for the generous use of his music.    #BeTheMeister at jagermeister.com or hit them up on IG @jagermeistersouthafrica   For our growing back catalogue of awesome, head on over to www.texxtalks.com or follow us on Facebook Instagram Twitter for updates, things you need to hear.   Also: make sure you follow Texx and the City on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram or all of your music news.
