Salman Khan, son of the renowned writer Salim Khan, is an Indian actor, producer and presenter with a long career of success in Bollywood movies. Described as one of the world's biggest stars by CNN, Salman has a huge fan among Indians (and Asians) worldwide, and is also one of the most commercially successful actors in India today.

Salman started his acting career with a supporting role in the movie Biwi Ho To Aisi in 1988. He came into the spotlight after the massive success of his next movie Maine Pyar Kiya (1989) for which he won the Filmfare award for the Best Male Debut. The movie featured evergreen songs like Kabootar Ja Ja Ja and Mere Rang Mein Rangne Wali. Salman continued with films like Baaghi – A Rebel For Love in (1990), Patthar Ke Phool and the blockbuster Saajan in 1991. Saajan featured Kumar Sanu’s timeless classic Mera Dil Bhi Kitna Pagal Hai. Salman Khan established himself as leading actor with the superhit romantic drama film Hum Aapke Hain Koun in (1994) which is still remembered for the songs Didi Tera Devar Deewana and Joote De Do Paise Le Lo. Salman continued with trail of success with Andaz Apna Apna (1994), Karan Arjun (1995), Jeet (1996) and Judwaa (1997). He won the Filmfare award for Best Supporting Actor in the mega hit movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), which is best remembered for the songs Saajanji Ghar Aaye and the popular title track Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. In 1999, Salman starred in the blockbuster film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam which is remembered for the sad number Tadap Tadap Ke Is Dil and the romantic Chand Chhupa Badal Mein. One of Salman Khan’s best performances was in the movie Tere Naam (2003), in which he played the role of an obsessed lover. It featured hit numbers like the title track Tere Naam and Kyo Kisi Ko. His box office success continued with back to back hits like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) for which he won the Best Actor award, No Entry (2005) which became the biggest hit of the year, Jaan-E-Mann (2006) and Partner (2007). The actor’s next success came with the monster hit Dabangg (2010) in which he played a funny fearless cop. The film boasted explosive numbers Munni Badnaam Hui Darling and Tere Mast Mast Do Nain. The dashing “Dabangg” of Bollywood released Ready in 2011 which became the one of the highest opening day grossers. His next commercial success was Bodyguard (2011). The film is remembered for the tracks Desi Beat and Teri Meri. His success graph kept going up with the blockbusters Ek Tha Tiger and Dabangg 2 in (2012), Jai Ho (2014) and the mega hit Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015). Bajrangi Bhaijaan featured the Adnan Sami’s chartbuster Bhar Do Jholi Meri and the trendsetter Selfie Le Le Re. Salman’s Eid release Sultan (2016) broke several box-office records and featured the hit tracks Baby Ko Bass Pasand Hai and Jag Ghoomeya. Although his 2017 release Tubelight wasn’t quite as successful on the box-office, songs like Radio and Naach Meri Jaan were well received by fans. Aside from films, Salman Khan has hosted famous shows 10 Ka Dum (2008) and seasons 4 to 8 (2012-16) of the popular reality show Bigg Boss.
