Movie Session: The Power of Decision is My Own Our weekend movie, Transcendence, gave us a powerful doorway into the ACIM theme that The Power of Decision is my Own. David opened the session by showing how the film’s story centers on Will, a brilliant AI researcher who wants to understand the world, and Evelyn, his wife, who has a heartfelt prayer for the world. The other characters, driven by fear, skepticism, or loyalty, reveal how doubt breaks communication and how fear breeds the belief in sickness, danger, and loss.With David’s commentary, the movie becomes a clear teaching on how the Holy Spirit can use absolutely anything for awakening. Rather than focusing on AI as a threat, we’re invited to look at the mind that projects fear onto what it doesn’t understand. Jesus’ question echoes throughout: If you don’t know your reality, why assume it is fearful? The film shows how we cling to limiting beliefs while mistrusting the very Love that would free us. Without the Holy Spirit, there is no escape from the impossible situation the ego sets up—and yet the Guide within us lovingly leads us back to what we truly want: God’s Love.
