About
Reading is important to success. In today's business world, more often than not, you need a certain level of education to get ahead. There are still those who make it without a formal schooling, but the fact that knowledge is power cannot be denied. But where does one get this knowledge? Books are one of the best and fastest ways to learn about yourself and about life.*The importance of educationEducation. Is it a means or an end" Most of us have heard this rhyme or have said this at one time or another, stressing the importance of education in our lives. That quote can sometimes be heard as your parents trying to scold you for not studying yet you're too busy watching movies or playing games. But there is some truth to that statement. Education is one of the most important things that you can do with your life. You educate yourself to develop a marketable skill set which in turn allows you to take on interesting and fulfilling jobs.If a person is forced to leave school because of financial constraints, they lose this option. The importance of education cannot be overstated. The ability to absorb and transfer knowledge is becoming more and more important as time goes on. Even the most skilled tradesman will tell you, you never stop learning. Those who learn fastest have an upper hand in the job market.*Who invented reading and writing?Scholars generally agree that the earliest form of writing appeared almost 5,500 years ago in Mesopotamia (present-day Iraq). Early pictorial signs were gradually substituted by a complex system of characters representing the sounds of Sumerian (the language of Sumer in Southern Mesopotamia) and other languages.*How can reading and writing help youThe more you read and write, the more you broaden your vocabulary and are able to articulate concepts accurately and more effectively to others. Increasing your ability to communicate also helps make you a better worker or student.*Online reading versus physical book readingEver since the inception of the Internet and digital media, physical books have been challenged to keep up with the expansion of technology. But, upon observing and thinking about it, are there any advantages to physical book reading that cannot be dominated by the advantages of e-books? In other words, are there any reasons why print browsing will remain relevant in the foreseeable future? I have a theory on why fewer people read nowadays… and it's not because of the rise in entertainment options such as Netflix, Instagram, HBO GO and Hulu. In fact, I read more now than when I was in high school (AKA my early twenties). Nope. I think it's caused by the way people read. Most of us read online now. It's easier to just scroll through articles than to sit down and read several chapters in a book.*ClosingReading. Is. Good. For us. I mean, yeah, some people might think reading isn’t cool, but there are also people who think wearing sweaters is “uncool”, so you know, whatever. In general we like books. They give us a chance to escape this world and go somewhere else, we get to see different perspectives, hear the thoughts of someone who is not us (which is always interesting…), and who knew you could spend hours in a virtual space picking your nose and no one would notice? Ok, maybe books aren’t all that bad. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
