We've got two very talented, strong independent women who are leading the charge of the brave new world of Virtual Concerts and Live Performances in the COVID-19 Pandemic. Very soon after the Shelter in Place, Ryan Nicole & DJ Champagne started a Live Virtual Open Mic as an outlet for artists and musicians to showcase their talent among loosing all gigs from the pandemic. The response has been tremendous with a spread of performers from across the world from all ages and types of genres.We also chat about the balance between a regular job supporting your creative career. While DJ Champagne embraces the structure, resources, and stability of a full time corporate job to support her creative endeavors of DJing, producing, and acting. It did not come overnight and she stresses the importance of finding the right employer that is supportive of her passion of creativity. For Ryan, she takes a different approach. She has, over time, been able to shift the ratio of creative work versus a day job. Initially, she was at a 50/50 split, but over time she is now doing her creative work 90% of the time and has evolved to 10% of her time as a consultant. She also stresses having a strong partner who does have a traditional salary 9-5 job has allowed her opportunity to follow her dreams.
