It is where all your 6am to 11pm day shifts really come and pay off. All the hardworking people do not have good CVs. As controversial as this statement may look or seem, I have often found that people who are considered the hard workers in an organization do not really specialize in anything and almost feel as if they do everything. Now disclaimer this is not a career guidance talk but something that will give you a spark to start asking yourself when is a one-page CV enough and what is the key information to put in such a small CV that will make me stand out. Today we will be looking at career sites and what they have had to say about resume page sizes and what each one may entail. Thank you for affording me this time to be able to give you a glimpse of what the internet has to offer for you.How long?A resume should typically be only one page in length. However, there are certain circumstances under which a two-page resume is acceptable. As long as all the information that is included is important and relevant to the employer, resume length is secondary.Your resume must have readability and relevance at the top of its priority.How can I make my resume shorter? Make your ideas more concise - The first step you should take when editing your resume is to make your ideas brief. Remove filler words - By removing several filler words, you can create much more space on your document.List accomplishments over tasks - Instead of creating a list of all the job duties you’ve had at each of your professional experiences, list only your greatest, most relevant accomplishmentsRemove irrelevant or optional information - If this information doesn’t make your resume more relevant or valuable to the employer, consider removing it (Hobbies and Interests including volunteer work).Conclusion - The internet is a vast ocean filled with many undiscovered ways of doing things.
