The Incarnation has been one of the most misunderstood mysteries. There have been many heretic views about the Incarnation. Arianism, known after the name of Arius, was such one heresy that denied the divinity of Jesus. Arius, an ambitious priest of the Alexandrian Church, denied the Divinity of Christ, and began spreading the heresy that Jesus Christ was not truly divine, but merely created in time by the Eternal Father. God revealed that Jesus is a divine Person and through the Incarnation, He has both the natures - divine and human. St. Athanasius (298-374) was secretary to St. Alexander of Alexandria and succeeded him to the see of Alexandria. St. Alexander had excommunicated Arius and St. Athanasius instrumental in doing so. St. Athanasius had to undergo a lot of troubles and five times exiled for 17 years together. But, St. Athanasius, the Champion of Christ's Divinity as he is known, never gave up. He upheld the truth that Jesus is a DIVINE Person. He said, “Jesus became what we are that he might make us what he is.” This is a very strong statement revealing the Divine Plan for humans. God is the Divine Family of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. God desires to have many more children in His Family for which He sent His only Son. St. Paul, writing to the Romans (8:29), says, "For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn within a large family." What a great privilege God has given to us! Have you ever understood it? Today, God is reminding you and me through St. Athanasius to accept this invitation! Are YOU willing to accept it and become a member of the Divine Family? ====================== You are most welcome to follow me on the following platforms. ====================== To understand the Incarnation (the Word made flesh), try this book by Fr.
