In Mark chapter 10, Jesus is teaching the crowds when some Pharisees approach him and ask him about divorce. Jesus responds by saying that God created humans male and female and that what God has joined together, let no one separate. His disciples ask him about the difficulty of divorce, and Jesus explains that divorce is only permitted in cases of adultery. Jesus then goes on to bless the children who are brought to him, and he tells his disciples that the kingdom of God belongs to those who are like children. A rich man approaches Jesus and asks him what he must do to inherit eternal life. Jesus tells him to sell all his possessions, give the money to the poor, and follow him. The man is saddened by this and cannot bring himself to do it. Jesus then goes on to say that it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God. Finally, Jesus tells his disciples that he will be betrayed and killed and then rise again on the third day.
