Luke Chapter 4 begins with Jesus being led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness for forty days to be tempted by the devil. After resisting the devil's temptations, Jesus returns to Galilee and preaches in the synagogues. He goes to Nazareth, where he proclaims himself as the fulfillment of the prophecy in the book of Isaiah. However, the people reject him and even try to harm him. Jesus then continues to preach and perform miracles in various villages throughout Galilee. He heals many people, including those possessed by evil spirits, and teaches in the synagogues. The chapter ends with Jesus departing to pray in a solitary place, and crowds seeking him out to hear his teachings and see his miracles.
