Luke Chapter 2 tells the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. It describes how Caesar Augustus ordered a census, which required that Joseph, who was engaged to Mary, return to his ancestral home in Bethlehem. While they were there, Mary gave birth to Jesus in a stable, and they placed him in a manger. Angels then appeared to shepherds nearby, telling them of the birth of the savior and the shepherds went to go see the baby.
