In Luke Chapter 10, Jesus sends out seventy-two disciples in pairs to preach the Gospel and heal the sick. He gives them instructions on what to do and tells them to rely on the hospitality of the people they meet. They return reporting success, and Jesus praises them. Jesus then has a conversation with a lawyer about the greatest commandment, and the lawyer asks Jesus who his neighbor is. Jesus tells him the parable of the Good Samaritan, showing that everyone is our neighbor and we should love and care for everyone. Jesus then visits the home of Martha and Mary, and while Martha is busy serving, Mary sits at Jesus' feet and listens to him. When Martha complains, Jesus tells her that Mary has chosen the better thing.
