The word "desperate" has two meanings in English: the etymological meaning of the hopelessness and the more modern meaning of strongly desiring. Both of these senses occur in several spiritual vignettes in the Bible of people desperate for healing from God. Christians can become hopeless, but with God all things are possible. Our strength comes from Him, and our focus should be on Him, in praise.
