Dig Deeper - Week 13: Of First Importance...

Pastor takes us through an exploration of one of the earliest Christian statements of faith.   1 Corinthians 15:3-5 Paul said, "For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve."   Of FIRST Importance is that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures. Jesus is the sacrificial victim who pays for the sins of the world. Only an innocent victim can pay for the sin of another and only God Himself can pay for the sins of all.   The statement goes on with… that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures and that he appeared to Cephas (Peter) and the twelve.   This is a statement of faith about who Jesus is. The followers of Jesus declared: Jesus' deity Jesus' death Jesus' resurrection   These are the fundamentals of biblical faith and they are at the heart of everything Jesus taught, Jesus has done and Jesus is doing and they are everything the Scriptures proclaim.     Now What?
