About

“Biodiversity means Business II: Greener EU-India Supply Chains & Technologies” It was an Indo-EU joint initiative for a symposium on Biodiversity Conservation and its massive positive impact on economy. It was organized on Thursday, June 2nd 2022, during 12:30 – 18:30 (IST) / 9:00 – 15:00 (CET). The Delegation of European Union to India and Bhutan (EUDEL) aims to work closely with the Indian government, States, CSO, and businesses towards the adoption and implementation of a new global framework for biodiversity, including critical elements outlined below: 1. Overarching global goals for biodiversity for 2050, in line with the United Nations 2030 SDGs and the vision of living in harmony with nature. 2. Ambitious global 2030 SMART targets consistent with EU commitments, addressing the drivers of biodiversity loss, and matching Indian Strategies. 3. Strengthening the implementation, monitoring and review process with a regular review cycle to look at progress towards the targets, based on science-based gap-analysis and foresight process, with common headline indicators for both parties. 4. A dynamic, enabling framework based on financial needs and gap assessment. 5. Fair and equitable sharing of the benefits of using genetic resources, including through digital sequence information. 6. Respect for the rights and the full and effective participation of indigenous peoples and local communities, an inclusive approach with the participation of all stakeholders. Under a general title "Biodiversity means LIFE", the 2021-2021 EU campaign is meant to illustrate the potential socio-economic benefits of adapting the EU Green Deal Strategy to Indian circumstances (in particular as regards biodiversity in agriculture, land use, coastal areas, and green infrastructures/nature-based solutions). The “Biodiversity means Business II: Greener EU-India Supply Chains & Technologies” event will wrap-up the campaign. Inputs from Experts and practitioners will be provided, collected, analyzed and summarized in a final end-of-campaign report which will be ready before the CBD COP15 in 2022 Q3. We were invited as a panelist in the discussion, as an expert on Waterbody & Wetland Rejuvenation & Restoration coupled with the biodiversity conservation in all our projects.
