Erika Chenais, epidemiologist, doctor in veterinary medicine and a Foot and Mouth Disease and similar Transboundary Animal Diseases emergency preparedness specialist with the European Commission for the Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease. As a part of our work towards improving preparedness for Foot and Mouth Disease and similar Transboundary Animal Diseases crises by Member nations and across Europe, the Emergency Preparedness Network facilitate networking among emergency preparedness experts, contingency planners and between the public and private sector. The Emergency Preparedness Network allows contingency planners to share information and experience regarding topics related to Foot and Mouth Disease and similar Transboundary Animal Diseases, including topics such as modelling, emergency vaccination and Contingency Planning, with the purpose to better prepared for outbreaks of these diseases. The network also allows us to provide up-to-date information on new development and tools concerning Emergency Preparedness. As an example, one of the latest activities of the network was a workshop sharing information and discussing emergency preparedness for a Foot and Mouth Disease and similar Transboundary Animal Diseases.
