Why Is Some Music Not Available?
From time to time, you may discover tracks or albums on Saavn that are disabled, greyed out, or just not available for listening. This is usually a temporary situation, but there are a few possible causes:
- Not Yet Released — We occasionally receive content that has not yet been officially released. These albums and tracks may appear on Saavn before their release date, but don't become available for listening until they are officially released to the market.
- Ownership Changes — Music rights and ownership are occasionally sold between labels, distributors, etc. When this happens, it can take a few days to get all the paperwork sorted out so tracks may become temporarily unavailable.
- Regional Restrictions — Because of some licensing restrictions, some content owners restrict the locations where their songs can be streamed. Nearly all of Saavn's rights are global so this will be extremely rare for our users but it can happen.
- Database Maintenance — Now and then, we may need to perform maintenance on our database in order to expand service, implement new features, and otherwise improve Saavn for our users. This time windows are generally very short, but can be longer if we're rolling out large new features or need to overhaul sections of the product.
In each of these cases, we do our best to communicate with our users about why their songs may be missing or disabled, but as always please don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions.
