Introduction

Honey Singh, better known by his stage name Yo Yo Honey Singh, is an Indian rapper, music producer, singer and film actor. Honey Singh was born as Hirdesh Singh in New Delhi. In his early life, he studied music at Trinity College, England. He began his career as a recording artist and a Bhangra music producer. His first claim to fame came when he received the ETC award for Best Sound for his song, Glassi in 2006. He then went onto win the PTC Best Folk Pop Award for Rebirth in 2009 and the PTC Punjab Best Music Director Award in 2011.

Honey Singh and Diljit Dosanjh's Lak 28 Kudi Da, a promotional track for the film Lion of Punjab made it to No.1 on BBC Asian Download Charts in May 2011. A song called Gabru from his hit album International Villager that featured singer J-Star topped the Asian music charts and the BBC Asian charts. In Bollywood, he rose to fame with his debut with the title track of the movie Shakal Pe Mat Ja that featured Gagan Sidhu. His other hit songs include Blue Eyes, Bebo and ABCD from Yaarian. He is now famous for his song compositions in films like Mere Dad Ki Maruti, Bajatey Raho, Boss and Chennai Express. In 2014, some of his memorable numbers are Chaar Botal Vodka from Ragini MMS2 and Horn OK Please from Dedh Ishqiya. His song Angreji Beat which he sung with Gippy Grewal for his Album International Villager (2011), later used in the Bollywood movie Cocktail was again a big chartbuster. His songs Lungi Dance in Chennai Express and Party all Night in the film Boss have become all time hits. Of course his latest hit number ‘Party with the Bhoothnath’ in the recently released Amitabh Bachchan movie Bhoothnath Returns is topping the charts witnessing online streaming in millions. It seems there’s no stopping this phenomenal youngster.

• FILMS (Acting Career)

His acting career began when he starred as a gangster called Deesha in the 2012 film called Mirza, and then appeared in a Punjabi comedy film called Tu Mera 22 Main Tera 22 where he starred as a character called Rolly. He is all set to make his appearance in the upcoming Bollywood films called The Xpose and Zorawar, expected for release in 2014.

His first love remains music. “I'm also going to act in a movie being produced by Himesh Reshammiya ji. I'm playing the role of a villain in that movie. Then there is a Punjabi movie lined up for release as well. However, I have no inclination to turn into a full time actor. Music is the only love I have and that's all I'm concentrated on right now," says the artist.
